Saudi Arabia set to lift ban on WhatsApp and Skype calls

Saudi Arabia is lifting a ban on voice and video calling apps such as WhatsApp and Skype, in a move aimed at boosting productivity and economic growth.
The ministry of communications said access to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) would be “widely available to users” from Wednesday.
It had previously blocked VoIP apps for failing to comply with “regulations”.

The announcement comes only days after Snapchat blocked Al Jazeera from its app in the conservative Gulf kingdom,BBC reports

Saudi officials accused the Qatar-based network of being a “harmful, propaganda-pushing channel that supports extremism”.
Al Jazeera, which denies the charge, said Snapchat’s actions were a “clear attack on the rights of journalists and media professionals to report and cover stories freely from around the world”.
Saudi Arabia blocked access to Al Jazeera’s website at the end of May, shortly before the country severed all links with Qatar over the emirate’s alleged support for terrorism and ties with Iran.

Nicki Minaj and Nas’ seemingly overnight romance has had the internet buzzing since the duo were spotted being extra cozy during a recent outing. While everyone from Safaree to Wendy Williams has weighed in on the Queens emcees’ rumored relationship, Kelis couldn’t be less bothered.

While the R&B singer has yet to comment on her ex-husband’s new flame with the Head Barb, that doesn’t exclude her from entertaining the constant shade being thrown their way. A screenshot, courtesy of The Shade Room, has surfaced of Kelis liking a negative Instagram comment that was directed towards “Mi-Nas.”

“Nobody cares for a fake couple that’s trying to be the Walmart version of Jay Z & Beyonce,” the comment reads. “Go Kelis I’m proud of you & yourself your so drama free… so iconic fav idol.”

It’s been nearly 10 years since Kelis and Nas went their separate ways and five since the Queens lyricist drew inspiration from their divorce for his tenth studio album Life Is Good. But, we’re pretty sure neither artist is losing sleep over the love lost.

Take a look at Kelis serving up classy shade below.

Tunisia ends ban on Muslim women marrying non-Muslims

Tunisia has abolished a decades-old ban on Muslim women marrying non-Muslims, the presidency said Thursday.

“Congratulations to the women of Tunisia for the enshrinement of the right to the freedom to choose one’s spouse,” presidency spokeswoman Saida Garrach wrote on Facebook.

The announcement comes a month after President Beji Caid Essebsi called for the government to scrap the ban dating back to 1973,AFP reports.

Until now a non-Muslim man who wished to marry a Tunisian woman had to convert to Islam and submit a certificate of his conversion as proof.

Human rights groups in the North African country had campaigned for the ban’s abolition, saying it undermined the fundamental human right to choose a spouse.

Tunisia is viewed as being ahead of most Arab countries on women’s rights, but there is still discrimination particularly in matters of inheritance.
