Celebrating a decade since her Playtime Is Over debut mixtape, Nicki Minaj graces three different covers of DAZED magazine’s Autumn/Winter 2017 issue.
Photographed by Steven Klein, one cover is vibrant and shows Minaj on the back of a black horse. Another finds her staring into the camera in a grainy black-and-white flick. The final cover, also in black and white, has her face framed with masking tape.
Inside the mag, the rap queen speaks about her accomplishments with candor. “I came into this industry and demanded more,” she says. “I wanted more for female rappers. I wanted more for black women. I wanted to make more than what men were making. And I did it. I did it.”
Elsewhere, Barbie explains the “genius” behind her achievements, boasting about her money-making ways in a male-dominated field. “I knew my worth from very early on,” she explains. “Some may call it attitude, some might call it genius! Some might call a female rapper being able to get a million dollars for one show genius!”⠀
