Kim Kardashian has long said that singer and actress Cher – who is also of Armenian descent – is one of her top style icons next to the late movie star Elizabeth Taylor.
And on the September cover of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia the 36-year-old beauty emulated the Turn Back Time singer in a stunning photo shoot by Mariano Vivanco.
‘I always look up to other Armenian women,’ Mrs Kanye West told the publication. ‘I have deep family roots that are similar to hers.’
The cover was called Iconic Spirit.
Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief Louise Nichol explained her choice.
‘Bazaar’s cover story with Kim pays tribute to another Armenian woman at the vanguard of style, Cher; a woman whose fashion choices 40 years ago must have caused as much of a furore as Kim’s provocative selfies do today.’
Kim looks radiant on the cover in a sparkly black beaded dress that is plunging in front with a nude panel to keep the front together.
It looks much like something Bob Mackie would have created for the Sonny & Cher star in the 1970s when she was hitting the top 10 lists regularly.
The reality TV icon’s hair is worn poker straight and parted in the middle, which is usual for her.
But her eye makeup is very different: she has on long lower eyelashes which Cher used to wear in her disco heyday.
The lips are also heavily glosses, a look that reigned during the sex and drug fueled 1970s.
