The music icon was honored for his faith Sunday in a private ceremony at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall he frequented in Minnesota.
“It was a beautiful service, a tribute to Prince,” said one of the approximately 450 attendees, Richard Weiner.
“They talked about his faith, how he became a Jehovah’s Witness in 2003, and his actions after that were to glorify God in words and deeds.”
The late star regularly attended Sunday services at the Kingdom Hall. There, he was known simply as “Brother Nelson, NY Daily reports
” He was also known for going door-to-door around the area, looking to share the faith with unsuspecting residents.
The program for the service included a quote from the Prince song “Beautiful, Loved and Blessed” on the back. It read, “If I were to ever write down my life story, I could truly say with all the fame and glory, I was just a piece of clay in need of the potter’s hand.”
